Workspace and coach guide
CADENCE — YOUR MUSICAL WORKSPACE LEARN THE MUSIC YOU LOVE. MAKE IT YOUR OWN. Command-1 through Command-4 choose Learn, Library, Studio and Explore. Switching sections returns to the activity you last used there; it does not begin another session or create another score. These controls are in current source builds; the public 0.36.1 download predates them. LEARN Your pathway opens Make a song your own: hear a phrase, understand its changes, join the accompaniment, make an eight-bar version and return independently. Every chapter stays open. Open full score always opens the complete piece. Practice & review contains the practice room, exercises and spaced returns. Courses holds the smooth-changes pathway and its source-linked activities. Personal plans holds saved goal, song, style and piece-practice plans. AI can help assemble a plan; original examples and local piece exercises work offline. The sidebar pathway card and Your pathway return bar keep the flagship journey close when an activity takes you elsewhere. Back to Learn returns to that map when a flagship pathway is selected, otherwise to the practice room. LIBRARY Music separates Sheet music, My compositions and Examples. Opening a piece opens its full score in Studio; choose a practice passage afterward. Books & chapters holds EPUB/PDF sources and their reviewed lessons. A chapter activity can take you into Learn or Studio, with a return control to its source. Library keeps its search, collection, selected piece and notebook controls while you move elsewhere. An explicit Show in Library action clears conflicting filters so the requested piece is visible. STUDIO Write & arrange is the notation/tab editor previously called Compose. Rehearse is the full-score study workspace previously called Studies. Moving between sections keeps the selected event, passage and editor undo history in memory. An explicit Open full score still opens the whole piece. EXPLORE Theory contains the circle of fifths, keys, scales and modes. Chords & voicings connects chord tones with piano/guitar shapes and chord-change activities. Metronome & tuner keeps the timing and pitch tools nearby. THE COACH, BESIDE THE MUSIC Choose Coach in the header, use Shift-Command-K, or ask about a pathway chapter. The panel's context card names the music or activity. What will be included shows the supplied reference. Turn off Include this context to send only your question and recent conversation. Opening the panel never sends a request. Add your OpenRouter key and model in Settings, then explicitly choose Send. This uses your provider credits with ZDR required. Original books, PDFs and recordings are not included in these coaching requests. Moving elsewhere does not silently retarget a conversation. Use the music I’m viewing explicitly adopts the current context. Each context keeps its draft and recent conversation while Cadence is open. Closing the panel keeps a draft and lets an already submitted request finish. Stop request cancels it; work already sent may still be charged. Replies for a supported library passage are saved in that piece's notebook, with the original score version and bars. A failed save retains the received reply. Save received reply again performs only the local write. If its piece is gone, copy the reply before explicitly discarding it to free the coach. Typing in the question field pauses editor MIDI step entry and note shortcuts. Leave the field to work with the music again. The coach does not grade an unheard performance or replace the practice system's separate evidence. In a narrow window the chapter selector and activity stack vertically. Wider editing/reference workspaces can be panned horizontally beside the coach. Closing the panel gives the music the full workspace again.
