CADENCE — PRACTISE THIS PIECE

Library → choose a piece → Practise this piece.
Also available from Compose → Practise and from Studies. A saved study copy
links back to its original composition when that composition is in the library.

1. OPEN
The full selected part remains in view. Choose one notation staff or Hands together for a two-staff piano part, a comfortable
40–160 bpm and 1–8 bars. Use the passage map or bar controls. Each assessed pass
is at most 60 seconds / 256 attacks in 2/4, 3/4 or 4/4. Include complete ties.
Imported PDF pages must be reviewed against the originals first. No chord
symbols or AI model are needed for this feature.

Connect your MIDI keyboard, release its keys, then Count in & play. After one
bar of count-in, the guiding click stops. Continue through mistakes. Cadence
compares written sounding pitches and entrances; it does not infer why a note
was difficult. The full score remains visible and scrollable.

2. FOCUS
The opening pass chooses a small area from observed errors, preserving complete
ties. Play the notes slower with a click, or tap the rhythm on Space or any
piano key. A chord uses one rhythm tap, a tie needs no second tap, and rests keep
their time. Choose one pass or three loops, each with a fresh count-in and a
separate saved result. Listen or Loop & listen plays the selected staff.
Stop whenever you need; unfinished passes receive no grade. After a focused
pass, choose Back into the phrase. You decide when to move on.

3. CONNECT
Play the original opening phrase again at its opening tempo, without a guiding
click. A one-bar opening expands to neighbours when supported. This is still
supported same-session practice, even if it is accurate. The result and your
place are saved atomically.

4. RETURN LATER
Learn → Practice & review → Bring it back offers the phrase tomorrow. Read from the full score
and play before listening or warming up the phrase. A first delayed pass with
native MIDI timestamps is independent evidence. A cancelled/restarted pass,
assistance or timestamp fallback is supported evidence, including after relaunch.
Use More supported practice whenever helpful; all exercises remain open.

The local review policy spaces successful independent returns at 1, 3, 7, 14,
30 and 60 days. Failed/supported returns wait at least a day for the next fresh
check. Listening/practice in this workspace needs a further 20-hour gap. This is
a transparent scheduling rule, not a measurement of mastery. Practice elsewhere
cannot be detected automatically. Review results remain distinct from retries.

PRACTICAL DETAILS
Keyboard & timing provides the same optional eight-tap calibration as Play along.
Use built-in or wired audio for timing. The offset includes your own tapping
tendency and resets after changing keyboard/audio or sleeping the Mac. A Space
exercise uses no MIDI offset. Assessment covers entrances and pitches only;
note duration, pedal, dynamics, phrasing and technique remain ungraded. Repeat
signs follow written order. MIDI monitoring is not a new live software piano;
use your keyboard's own sound as before.

The score wash shows the active bars. Below the staves: ✓ on time, ← early,
→ late, × different pitch, – missed. Chord entrances show notes on time / total;
Every entrance lists individual pitches, errors and extra presses. Rhythm feedback maps to the same original
bar positions. The right panel records pitch and timing separately. Printed
score tempo stays original; practice uses the panel's tempo.

Your sessions resume from Learn → Practice & review → Your music, in progress. Failed saves keep
the completed pass there for retry. A changed/deleted score or revoked PDF review
cannot receive old results. Choose another phrase to select a different range;
an existing range resumes its saved session and original tempo.

Practice data is format 12. This release preserves scores and existing practice,
but older apps cannot write the newer practice file. No model calls or AI credits
are used. The FP-10 still needs a physical USB test; automated checks use virtual
MIDI, native audio and isolated app previews.

SHAPE THE PHRASE
New piano passes also save MIDI takes. Open Shape the phrase to listen, compare
and reflect; choose Connect the melody for focused articulation observations.
The musical intention carries into context and review, without an expression
grade. See Shape the phrase guide.txt for scope, pedal handling and storage.

HANDS TOGETHER
Choose Hands together before beginning a new phrase. Focus offers Right hand,
Left hand and Both hands. The partner switch plays the other written staff on
the shared count-in/timing clock; turn it off for a solo attempt. You can take
either hand as often as useful, then save a focused Both hands pass to reconnect
the whole phrase. Context and later review always use both hands with partner
off. Saved takes contain only your MIDI playing. See Hands together guide.txt.

Make it flow now adds barline joins, optional tempo suggestions and thinning
click support inside focused practice. See Make it flow guide.txt.
